Just do it… Make millions! World’s highest-paid female athlete is going to get even richer. Russian tennis superstar Maria Sharapova has extended her sponsorship deal with Nike in an eight-year $70 million agreement. The contract goes into effect this month and includes a line of dresses designed by Maria. She currently makes close to $22 million a year in prize money and from endorsing companies (Tiffany & Co, Sony Ericsson and Canon). She consistently ranks as the highest paid-female athlete of the world and the highest paid athlete in Russia for the last several years.

Max Eisenbud, Sharapova’s agent at IMG Tennis told reporters that Sharapova, who has nine sponsors, might drop some endorsements in favor of agreements that give her a percentage of sales. She already has an equity agreement in place with Cole Haan, a Nike subsidiary and US clothing, shoe, handbag and accessory designer.

Venus Williams extended her agreement with Reebok in 2000 that the clothing maker said at the time was ”the most lucrative for a female athlete”. The five-year contract was worth about $45 million.

Sharapova is currently in Sydney preparing for the upcoming Australian Open (January 18-January 31).
