Russia’s Fed Cup captain Anastasia Myskina has confirmed that world number two Maria Sharapova will be playing in the upcoming semi-final tie against Germany. It will be her fourth appearance for Russia. To be eligible for next year’s Olympic Games, she needs to make herself available for the Fed Cup. The Russian team is facing Germany on April 18-19 in Sochi. Myskina has also picked Svetlana Kuznetsova, and Elena Vesnina.
Sharapova has spent part of her childhood in Sochi where her grandparents and cousins still live.
