Sharapova Withdraws from Fed Cup

Maria Sharapova has pulled out of the Fed Cup semi-final against Germany. She has been recovering from a leg injury that she has suffered in a WTA tournament in Miami. The Russian Fed Cup captain Anastasia Myskina said, that Maria was simply not ready. Vera Zvonareva will be replacing Maria.  It seems Sharapova was really disappointed to miss such an important tie which is going to take place in Sochi, a town very dear to Maria.

“I was looking forward to my return to Sochi to play in the Fed Cup. It could be my life’s first ever experience – to play in the city where I grew up. And I’ve changed my personal schedule in order to play for my country in the semifinal.”
