AFP reports that Bulgarian tennis player Sesil Karatantcheva will play for Kazakhstan for the next three years. According to his dad “it’s a question of survival that has nothing to do with patriotism. The contract that will guarantee Sesil’s financial security runs for three years.” Karatancheva, 19, will earn $65,000 per season with some bonuses also on offer. The Bulgarian received her doping ban after testing positive for steroids at the 2005 French Open. Aged 15, she reached the French Open quarter-finals and was ranked inside the world’s top 40.
